Media Advisory Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners To Hold Public Consultation on “Creating a Culture of Community Safety”.
The consultation is an opportunity for Saskatoon residents to hear about emerging issues and share their views with the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners on this highly relevant topic.

Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2015
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Farmers’ Market at Avenue B and 19th Street.
The format includes:
A presentation by Saskatoon Police Chief Clive Weighill on how crime has changed in Saskatoon and how policing has evolved to being more proactive with new policing methods and strategies.
A panel will share their views, in an interview format, on crime and public safety from the perspectives of their organizations. The organizations participating are:
University of Saskatchewan
Saskatoon Health Region
Saskatoon Council on Aging
Open Door Society
Str8up Program.
Attendees will then convene to discussion tables to address issues that include:
Does our community feel safe to you, to your friends and to your neighbours?
What tells you whether our community feels safe or not?
Who has the responsibility for creating a safe community?
What do you believe should be the areas of greatest focus going forward by the police service and other agencies?
Following the round table discussions, the results will be recapped and reported back to everyone in attendance. The full report on issues identified will be captured for further Police Commission analysis.
