ANGKOR PHOTO

After being screened at 6th Triennial of Photography in Hamburg in June my Wakaliwood photos now got selected for the 11th Angkor Photo Festival in Cambodia, which will take place from 5-12 December 2015. My photos are part of "The Impact Project" which features photographic work dedicated to showcasing people and communities that are trying to make a positive change on social and environmental issues. Earlier this year the photos and text ( by A.v. Kittlitz) originally published in Neon magazine were honored at the prestigious Hansel Mieth Preis.

PUBLICATIONS

For NIDO magazine I followed the resettlement of an abandoned baby together with writer Linda Tutmann.

German singer in Uganda Deena was published in UniSpiegel and the INYT. A story about the famous Wakastarz of Wakaliwood has been published in ZEIT Leo, while a different set of photos appeared in Spring Breeze Magazine China. Wamiki Magazin printed a nice selection of my images on the power of music in a slum in Kampala and Selamta magazine ran a travel piece about a lodge on the Nile in Uganda.

Work

I have recently worked with several Ngos, organisations and social businesses in Uganda, where these people have a huge impact on changing the living conditions of the communities. I have had the pleasure to document i.a. the important work of the African Children's Choir, Beautiful World Canada Foundation and AFRpads. I am currently working on a portfolio for this kind of work that will be online shortly on my website and on request.

Portfolio Reviews

I am very honoured to be one of the reviewers at this year's portfolio reviews during the Uganda Press Photo Awards on 31st October 2015 in Kampala. I will also take part in a panel discussion on the realitites of working as a female photographer in Africa on October 30th. More info to come soon, in the meantime please visit their website for more info on the upcoming exhibitions, award ceremony and additional events.
