One of the most provocative must-see films in the San Francisco Black Film Festival is the cinematic drama “Moses,” which is about the human sex trafficking of young African males, a topic rarely discussed. “Driving While Black” is one of the few comical films in the San Francisco Black Film Festival this year, yet its subject matter deals with a not-so-funny topic. What I liked most about this film is that is a satirical look at how police of all ethnicities treat young Black men. (((MORE)))
This is one of my favorite films in the San Francisco Black Film Festival because the festival deals with “Black” in a Pan Africanist sense, and the Eritrean experience in the United States is not very well documented in film. It was refreshing to see a new story, instead of a recycled, refurbished plot. (((MORE)))
Few musicians have had such an everlasting impression on the music of the 20th century internationally as the legendary Reggae and Dub producer and vocalist Lee “Scratch” Perry. Born in Jamaica as a contemporary of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Scratch has had an exciting life. (((MORE)))
