Gutenberg Technology’s project won the first French Open EdX Hackathon by improving the EdX video module with exciting new features.
In less than 48 hours, Gutenberg Technology’s team rose to the challenge by developing an innovative feature to easily make videos more interactive on the Open EdX platform. The program’s output is an interactive video in which scored quizzes appear at specific points to assess student understanding as the course proceeds. Moreover, the program suggests hints when the student has a wrong answer.
Offering critical teaching and learning features, this interactive video module allows teachers to seamlessly add quizzes in the video at chosen breakpoints on the Open EdX platform while outputting very user-friendly videos that attract students’ attention. In light of the high number of “MOOC dropouts,” this module is designed to increase students’ engagement in the learning process.
The outstanding performance of Gutenberg Technology developers
About 200 developers (100 in Paris and 100 in the rest of the country) were gathered in an atmosphere of friendly competition where many interesting projects were undertaken. Within this context, Gutenberg Technology’s “Dream Team” hacked its way to the top in record time.
This critical feature will soon benefit over 4 million users of the Open EdX platform, confirming Gutenberg Technology’s continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology to shape a new learning experience.
This award proves once again the high level of expertise of Gutenberg Technology, the European leader of technological solutions for the creation of educational content. Indeed, it highlights the quality of the Gutenberg Technology team of top-notch developers who are recruited following a very selective hiring process. These very effective team players are all at the cutting edge of technology, always eager to learn and try new technologies and programming languages, thus adapting very quickly to learners’ needs.
The winners will be invited to Boston on next October to present their winning project at a major EdX event.
