Vision - Discipleship Training

The GSF Vision, "Making Disciples, Impacting the World for Christ", takes place in many ways all over campus.  One of Mark's roles is teaching a Discipleship Training Course on campus and at rural churches.  The course in Kiyindi last year has launched 9 other groups with nearly 100 participants.  These groups are taught by 2 pastors who completed the training in 2015.  The course focuses on a Bible overview and accurate Bible Study methods.  On Tuesday, Mark will attend a celebration where many of the participants will gather to rejoice in growing stronger in the Word.

This year, Mark has taught two groups on campus.  About 20 staff members at GSF Primary School just completed the course last week.  Due to requests from other staff members, a second class was organized.  We were thrilled that more than 20 people have been attending this second class.  Most of these are leaders and managers on the GSF staff - personally desiring to grow in the Word. This shows their desire to fulfill the vision of GSF - both on and off campus.  Thank you for your prayers and support which enable us to "Go and make disciples"!

Sharon's Heart Update

Sharon and Caralina share smiles together during a last visit before Caralina's departure.
The Lord is using these two girls in amazing ways.  Sharon is 18 years old and needs heart surgery.  Caralina is 18 years old and is heading to college. Sharon's story inspires many about Hope, Courage and Faith, because a poor girl in a Ugandan village cannot save that much money.  Holding onto Hope, Sharon makes bags and mats, which she sells for a few dollars each month.  Caralina's story inspires people because she had Courage to Hope that she could help Sharon.  The original goal was $10,000 for surgery in India.
Six months later, over $4,000 has been raised.  The hospital in Uganda has coordinated with an Italian humanitarian hospital in Sudan which does such surgeries free of charge.  Sharon's father has returned to his family and will travel with Sharon to Sudan to translate (He speaks English, but Sharon does not).  Their passports were received this week.  Donations have been used to pay Sharon's bills in Uganda and process the passports. God is good and He is at work!

Furlough Plans!

This map portrays our driving path from our last furlough, 3 years ago.  Not exactly how we planned it, but that's how it took place (flights to Colorado and South Florida not shown).  This year, we asked you to pray for us because there were many logistics involved.  Here is how those prayers have been answered...

Caralina is now enrolled at Word of Life Bible Institute in Hudson, FL.  Classes begin in September.  Titus and Megan are enrolled at New Covenant School in Lynchburg, VA; their classes begin August 20.  For Titus and Megan, attending a traditional school was their primary request for this furlough.  NCS gave us a great discount and we are thrilled to get to know the people there.  Lynchburg will be our home base, but many travels will take place.  We will live in a basement apartment at Amy's parent's house.  Praise God for bringing all these details together!  Megan is currently with Mark's parents in Tallahassee.  Caralina is in Colorado attending a one-week seminar for MKs returning to US life.  Mark, Amy and Titus fly from Uganda to Virginia on August 1st.  Please continue in prayer for us!

With all those details in place, we can now plan to see YOU somewhere along the way.  Our itinerary so far looks like this:
Southaven, MS                August 5-17
Broadway Baptist Church        Aug. 9
Word of Life, FL                 Sept. 18-20
Tallahassee, FL           Sept. 21-Oct. 5
Tupelo, MS (Global HQ)         Nov. 5-8
Return to Uganda!     January 8, 2016

As you can see, there are plenty of openings.  We would love to share about the amazing things God is doing through Good Shepherd's Fold Children's Home in Uganda.  We look forward to seeing many of you this year!
