CAMP HIGH HOPES
Friday, June 12 - Saturday, June 13, 2015
Camp High Hopes provides a fun weekend in the great outdoors to mentally challenged adults who live in Shelby, Bibb and Jefferson Counties.

It is just a short time until Camp High Hopes. This camp is an FCC tradition carried on for over 25 years, serving intellectually challenged adults from surrounding areas. We provide interaction with the campers through one-on-one  experiences, sharing fun activities, food, and Christian fellowship.

We will start the camp at 5:00 PM on Friday, June 12 with a cookout. At 7:30 PM, we will have our Camp High Hopes live band, the Pistons, playing rockin’ dance music. We will need a crew of about 10 to 15     counselors to check-in campers, to chaperon the dance, and to get the campers to bed.

On Saturday June 13, we will have a full day of activities (fishing, canoes, crafts, music, magic, bingo,     swimming, and lots of laughing) starting with breakfast at 8:00 AM and ending between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

Please consider Camp High Hopes as your opportunity for personal outreach. Contact Jim Langley at 980-1827 to sign up.
Youth Mission to APCC in Los Angeles
Our time at All People's Christian Church and Community Center was incredible. It's hard to put into words the impact our experience made in our lives, but we're going to try. Join us in worship Sunday, June 21 as we share stories and pictures from our trip. Once again we thank you for all the support that allowed us to go, serve, and be changed.

Sacred Harp Singers have only one "National Convention".  The thirty-sixth annual convention will be held at our church on the above dates.  This will be the eighth time to be at First Christian Church.  Our facilities are very suitable for a group that comes from nearly half of the states. We customarily have visitors from the United Kingdom, Canada as well as from other countries.

As you might expect, there is much to be done that you could volunteer to help as an ambassador from our congregation: Making and serving refreshments in the morning (I don’t know how we could do with out Bob Browning making coffee), helping people find parking spaces in the morning, greeting and guiding visitors around our facilities and showing the Christian Love that is so much a part of your church.  It is so important for visitors to feel WELCOME.

Thank you in advance for your support.

A Day At The Lake
Caring and Sharing will meet at Barbara Wyrosdick's lake house on June 24.  We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at The Narrows (old 280), in the parking lot across from the fire station.  We would love for any ladies of the church of join us for a day of rest, relaxation and, of course, caring and sharing!  For details contact Kathey Long at 205-823-0252 or email her here.

Click here to register online, or pick up a form in the church office.  Deadline for registration is June 28 to guarantee your child receives a t-shirt. Onsite registration will be at 8:30 AM July 13.

On Friday, July 17, we’ll invite parents to join us at 11:30 AM to share all we’ve learned during this exciting icy adventure.

We are looking for some fantastic adult and youth    volunteers to join us on this great adventure. You can sign up at church or email robin@fcc-bhm.org or leightatum@bellsouth.net. We can’t wait!
 MUSIC NOTES
Chime Choir will begin meeting Sunday, August 16 at 4:00 p.m.  If you didn’t make it to the organizational meeting, no problem!  There is still a place for you in our group.  We would love for this to be an intergenerational chime choir so anyone over the age of 10 is welcome to come play with us.

We will be playing a selection at Homecoming in October, and the chimes will be dedicated that    morning in worship also.  We will be playing   Christmas carols throughout the Advent season.

Chimes are a bit different from bells they are easier!  The more people we have, the more fun we’ll have!   So come on Sunday, August 16 in the choir room for an hour of fun, fellowship, and music.
