It’s hard to believe that the end of the financial year is just around the corner. For some of you however, it might be the perfect time to join Vision 1000.

Investments into Vision 1000 are fully tax deductible and can be made as an annual payment or as monthly instalments of $83.33 per month, less than the cost of one coffee a day.  Retinal Fellowship in Lao
|
|
The National Ophthalmology Centre in Vientiane (NOC) is Lao's premier training institute for ophthalmologists. With the support of Sight For All, the NOC is currently improving their ability to deal with avoidable blindness through the introduction of an in-country retinal training program.
With the retinal fellowship now underway we congratulate Dr Khamkhoune from Vientiane, Dr Houmphanh from Luang Prabang in Northern Lao and Dr Inthiphone from Champasak in Southern Lao, who are currently working within Sight For All’s retinal program.

Sight for All's commitment:
- To send one Retinal Visionary to Lao each alternate month for a two-year period. The Visionary will work alongside the Fellows in the clinics and operating theatres of NOC conducting valuable hands-on training.
- To equip NOC with the clinical and surgical equipment needed to diagnose and treat patients with retinal diseases.
Each retinal fellow Sight For All trains in Lao will go on to have a profound impact on their local communities. For a very modest financial input the impact is enormous, and in time each of these fellows will have a deep knowledge base enabling them to train their own colleagues.
Just another example of how Sight For All is making a powerful contribution to fighting avoidable blindness in Asia.

The week of Monday 11th May was National Volunteer Week. This year’s theme was “Give Happy, Live Happy”, recognising that those who volunteer are not only helping make other’s lives happy, but that they are also happy themselves.
In any one year, Sight For All receives over 10,000 hours of voluntary support from our Visionaries. These Visionaries include ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses, and scientists from all over Australia and New Zealand who donate their time and expertise to train colleagues in our partner countries. The support of these Visionaries allows Sight For All to provide sustainable educational programs in our partner countries and ensure our colleagues have the skills, knowledge and equipment to continue to treat patients in their communities for many years to come.

Our committees for Events, Marketing and Program Management are constantly at work, driven by dedicated and creative teams of volunteers. The assistance we receive in admin, web & design support is also extraordinary. We also acknowledge our Ambassadors and Patrons who guide and help us to strengthen and grow with their invaluable insight.
Volunteers are pivotal to Sight For All's ethos of collectively making a difference and their contribution helps to make Sight For All’s activities possible as we work towards our goal of eliminating blindness.
