Updates from HR

Janelle Palomo has been promoted to leave of absence officer/internal auditor within the Office of Financial Aid effective June 8. Palomo is a 2011 SWU graduate and worked in Financial Aid while a student before being hired on part-time. For the past three-and-a-half years, she has served as a full-time financial aid associate. Please join us in congratulating Janelle on this new appointment.

Kaitlin Messick, who graduated this May from SWU with a BS in psychology, has been hired as the new general manager of Blue Hill Coffee & Tea. If you’ve been a frequent visitor to Blue Hill, then Messick is very familiar to you as she served as a barista while a student. Congratulations, Kaitlin!

Rachael Blank and Sarah Walsh will be joining SWU’s Athletic Department as athletic trainer interns for 2015-2016. These appointments are the result of a nationwide search and this is the second year of SWU’s athletic trainer intern program. Blank received her BA in athletic training in May from Azusa Pacific University in California (she is from Oregon), and Walsh earned her BS in athletic training from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois (she is from Florida). Welcome to SWU, Rachael and Sarah!

Vacations

For 12-month employees, remember that your vacation leave should be used by June 30, the end of our employment/fiscal year. Please work with your supervisor to schedule this time off. Research shows that employees and the organizations they work for benefit when earned vacation time is taken.  We all have to recharge so that we can return to work refreshed and reenergized!

Verizon discount

After working with Verizon, we have been able to secure an 18 percent discount for employees who have their phone service through Verizon Wireless and are the primary account holder. Download the attached flyer to find out how to receive this discount.  Please note:  The email registration process listed on the flyer won't work because SWU shares that domain with both students and staff.
