Investment creates more than 300 jobs

The Marches saw increased levels of investment from overseas businesses during the year 2014-15, new figures have revealed.

The report, published by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), outlines that there were a total of 16 successful investments secured, marking an increase from 12 in the previous year.
And 13 of these were directly supported by
the Marches LEP and UKTI.

As a result of these investments, more than 302 new jobs have or will be created and a further 250 existing posts have been safeguarded.

The Marches LEP is one of just 17 Local Enterprise Partnerships nationally to have seen an increase in overseas investment, whilst 18 have experienced a fall.

Have your say on transport issues!

Midlands Connect is an ambitious initiative, supported by the region’s local enterprise partnerships (LEPs), aimed at identifying and then realising the transport connectivity improvements that the Midlands need to maximise long-term regional economic growth.

Businesses across the Marches are being invited to contribute their opinions on the state of the road and rail networks across the whole Midlands region as part of a major research study being carried out by the initiative.

The initial economic report identified key growth corridors, including Wolverhampton-Telford-Shrewsbury-Wales along the M6-M54 as well as the A49 through Herefordshire as routes key growth corridors.
