Smart Procurement
Whitepaper calls on feds for changes

An ITAC research report examining the federal procurement process is now available on the ITAC website. Smart & Collaborative Procurement Recommendations for PWGSC and SSC has been submitted to various departments within government including Public Works Government Services Canada, Shared Service Canada and Treasury Board Secretariat.
An earlier version of the paper completed in April was withdrawn after it was discovered the community vetting process had been overlooked.
Initial meetings with government representatives to discuss the recommendations have gone well and ITAC has been asked for further input on other new initiatives.

Ingenious Award Nominations Deadline Extended to July 17

The nominations for the 2015 Ingenious Awards and the 2015 CanadianCIO of the Year have been rolling in, but ITAC wants to make sure no great company or no worthy CIO goes unrecognized.
“We have had members approach us and say they’ve got a fantastic company they want to nominate, but with year end or Q2 deadlines, they just don’t have the time to make the submission,” says Lynda Leonard, ITAC’s Senior Vice-President spearheading the awards program.
“We understand how crazy this time of year can be, so we’ve decided to extend the nomination deadline by two weeks to give people extra time to make their nominations.”
Leonard stressed the nomination process is not time consuming and the return on investment – significant national recognition at a sparkling gala in front of the most prominent players in the Canadian ICT industry – is quite attractive.
The Ingenious Awards and the CanadianCIO of the Year Award celebrate industry leadership and the transformative power of ever-evolving ICT tools to strengthen the economy, improve productivity and enhance the lives of Canadians.

Business Technology Management Program Lauded at Halifax Conference

ITAC Talent’s Business Technology Management (BTM) program is the perfect educational path for people who see themselves as aspiring entrepreneurs, says Rob Carruthers, a partner with Deloitte Canada.
“Sometimes people with an entrepreneurial dream get too focused on one thing and it becomes an encumbrance,” he said. “With BTM grads, they leave school with a balance of technology and business skills that allows them to think more broadly and to stay ahead of the competition.”
Mr. Carruthers made the remarks during a panel discussion held during the recent ITAC Talent –sponsored National BTM Conference in Halifax. The conference was an opportunity to introduce the BTM program to business school leaders from across Canada who had gathered on the East Coast for their own conference. Read more

From a leader who has transformed the nursing practice around the world to new tools for expediting palliative care referrals in Toronto the best in digital heath was on display at the Canadian Health Informatics Awards Gala (CHIA) in Toronto June 2.Kathryn Hannah, PhD, President, HECS Inc and Adjunct Professor, School of Nursing, University of Victoria, was honoured with the CHIA Leadership Award in recognition of her ongoing contributions as a thought leader in advancing Canadian HI. Over the last 30+ years she has led initiatives that have changed the face of nursing documentation and practice both in Canada and internationally. She has positioned Canada as a leader in nursing informatics and her pioneering work is recognized and used internationally. More
