HABs Forecast 2015

NOAA issued the fourth seasonal Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Forecast from Ohio State's Stone Lab on July 9. The forecast predicts a severe bloom for this summer, potentially equaling or exceeding 2013's bloom.

EDUCATION

Stone Lab Workshops Build Key Job Skills
Over the next three months, Ohio State’s Stone Lab is offering ten non-credit workshops in subjects from fish sampling techniques to outdoor photography.

OUTREACH

OSG's New Extension Educator in Cleveland
Ohio Sea Grant Extension is growing again with the addition of Scott Hardy as its new educator based in Cleveland. Hardy started work on July 1, 2015.

Great Lakes Region Climate Quarterly June 2015

(PDF link) Ohio Sea Grant participates in the creation of NOAA's Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Great Lakes region. The June 2015 issue was just released to the public.

Health Impacts of Lake Erie Cyanotoxins

Stuart Ludsin, co-director of Ohio State's Aquatic Ecology Lab,  is leading a new, two-year, $162,598 Ohio Board of Regents grant that will study fish flesh and fresh produce as sources of human exposure to microcystin. The project continues previous research funded by Ohio Sea Grant.
