Blueprint Update ... with Allan Piggott

Dear <<First Name>>,

It has been more than three months since we started the journey of developing the South Australian Sheep Industry Blueprint.

In that time, we have compiled all the views and information gathered at the initial scoping meeting in February, liaised with stakeholders on funding and been in discussion with the State Government on the strategic plan development process.
We have appointed industry members to a Blueprint Working Group to progress the industry plan and our first meeting is tomorrow, Friday, June 19.

Please find below an update on the blueprint process to date and some general news articles to forward on to any stakeholder whom you think may be interested. Feel free to encourage your networks to sign up to our distribution list for more information as the blueprint is developed.

Thank you for your input and support.

Allan Piggott
SA Sheep Industry Blueprint Working Group Chairman

Industry leaders scope blueprint direction

MORE than 50 SA sheep industry stakeholders and decision-makers met at a workshop in February to start scoping the plan and identify key areas for the industry’s growth and development.

The scoping workshop identified five key objectives for the blueprint:
  1. Grow the SA sheep industry’s production and value from $1.4 billion in 2015 to $1.8 billion in 2020 while maintaining international competitiveness.
  2. Develop an industry workforce plan that injects new, young and energetic life and decreases the average age of managers by 10 per cent.
  3. Support an increase of quality independent consultants and advisers from 20 up to 25 by 2020.
  4. Act as a conduit for greater research, development and extension collaboration at the regional, state and national level and develop a measure of greater adoption and uptake.
  5. Develop a proactive and progressive industry communication plan that, through advocacy and champions, gives greater consumer confidence to increase their demand and engage the whole value chain.
