Summer Events at the House of Mica Peace Chamber
We welcome you to join us in ceremony!

Summer is the time for cultivating.  It is a time to nurture that which we are seeking to grow in our lives:  Love, Compassion, Inspiration. Connection, Peace.  Beautiful Painted Arrow explains that the sacred sound for summer time is "Pell Tah".  Let's explore the words "Pell Tah" more closely. The sounds in the word "Pell" teach us that when we are centered in the heart, we naturally generate ascending light.  The first letter, "P" is the sound of the heart and the letter "L" represents ascending light. So, being "placed" or "centered" (the sound of "E") in the heart has a way of lifting us and all those around us.  This ascending light is one of the elements that best supports our growth. The teaching behind the word "Pell" can be summarized as follows: just as plants and children naturally grow upright, so too when we are centered in our hearts, all of the things we are attempting to grow in our lives will ascend. The sound of "Tah" speaks to the fact that, when we grow, we naturally crystallize new forms. The sound of "T" has to do with crystallization. That which we are cultivating takes shape.  It becomes more clearly defined. As we cultivate new ideas and structures, it is important to reflect on what we have created - to check in with ourselves. Is what we are creating truly what we intended?  Is there a need to refine what we are cultivating?  The "A" in "Tah" points out that the process of reflecting on what we are creating helps to cleanse and purify what we are creating, just like the summer rain washes and purifies everything.  When we cultivate something from the heart, we are not just doing it for ourselves, but we do it for all of creation. The sound of "H" speaks to how, when we are in a state of creating from the heart, it naturally opens us up to the heavenly planes.  The truth is that we are so much more than our little egos will ever realize.  We are cosmic beings, interconnected with all of creation. The saying goes, "as above, so below".  What we cultivate in our lives. we cultivate in the universe.  What is cultivated in the universe, is cultivated in us. This summertime, as we cultivate the garden of our "Self", let us remember that we do this for all of our relations: for the plants, the animals, the minerals, the two-leggeds, four legged, winged ones and those that live in the earth and water.  The Sun-Moon Dancer understands that all of her steps are a give-away to the cosmos.  When we cultivate this awareness in our lives, it takes us beyond ourselves to the state of inspiration in which all that we do is carried by the light of the Divine.

We hope you enjoy this summer time!  We hope to see you in ceremony.

We will light the fire at 3pm and go into the lodge around 5pm.  Note: This sweat lodge is the day after our summer work day. Anyone who wants to come earlier in the day to work is most welcome to do so.

PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL TO LET US KNOW OF YOUR INTENTION TO ATTEND A SWEAT LODGE OR OTHER CEREMONY.  IT IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR PLANNING AND PREPARATIONS.

Arriving at the time we light the fire is appreciated and deepens your experience of the ceremony. Everyone should arrive no later than one hour after the scheduled time to light the fire. Please bring a modest bathing suit, two towels and something for a potluck meal after the ceremony. The day usually wraps up around 5-6 hours after the listed start time. It is important to give yourself time so you do not have to rush off. Donations of $15 to $25 are appreciated. More if you can, less if you can't. Ceremony is always open to all.

The 18th Annual Sun-Moon Dance will take place in East Greenbush, NY from Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3rd

Sun-Moon Dance

This vision quest dance, in the tradition of Beautiful Painted Arrow, is a powerful opportunity for personal, family, community and global healing. The dance is done in a beautiful, outside dance arbor. Together we honor the earth, sky, sun and moon as we dance the sacred path to the Tree of Life. Dancers fast from food and water during the ceremony which provides the special conditions that help us enter the sacred space of the divine. We greet each day with sunrise ceremony and have periods of dancing and rest throughout the day. At night we honor the moon and enter into the dream world. A caring team of support people is present to create the safe space that allows dancers to fully enter into their spiritual work. On one level, we dance to honor the present, cleanse the past and bless the future.  On another level, we dance to step outside of perceptual time into the eternal presence of the One Divine Being of Love.

If you are interested in dancing or have questions, please contact us by email or call us at 518-729-2429. ALL DANCERS must contact us by July 1st.
Please join us for work days to prepare the land for the Sun-Moon Dance. There is much work to do, both heavy and light. We are also seeking several people to commit to being on the land Wednesday and Thursday before the dance.  Much work is done these two days. If you can not make one of the scheduled work days, please call us about other times you might be available.

Work Days:
Saturday, July 11 - 10:00 to 5:00 pm
Wednesday, July 29 - 10:00 to 5:00 pm
Thursday, July 30 - 10:00 - 5:00 pm
Help Us Welcome Dancers from Brazil
A group of dancers from Brazil will be joining us for this year's Sun-Moon Dance. We are looking for someone to help transport our guests from one of the NYC airports to the House of Mica for the dance. Offering to assist with meeting some of their needs (shopping, getting around, bringing extra food, etc) while they are here will also be greatly appreciated.  We are committed to showing our guests some real northern hemisphere hospitality! Let us know if you might be able to assist.
Observing sunrise from the banks of the Ganges River
in the Sapt Sarovar area of Haridwar.
This June Rick, Elisa and Liliana traveled to India to Swami Paramanand Ji's ashram in the Holy City of Haridwar on the banks of the Ganges River. Below are some pictures from the ashram. As you can see, it is very beautiful and accommodations are quite comfortable for westerners.  If you are interested in joining the House of Mica on a future trip to India to study the sacred teachings of Vedanta with Swami Paramanand Ji, please email us. If it happens that a group of 5-10 people can coordinate dates for travel we will work with ashram to make arrangements to welcome us.  Email us homica@nycap.rr.com.
Fire Ceremony for Peace - Held on the 7th of each month at 7 pm

On the 7th of each month at 7 pm, we conduct Fire Ceremony for world peace and the healing of the waters. A fire is built in a sacred manner in the courtyard of the peace chamber.  Prayers for healing, purification of the waters and global peace are offered.  We watch the fire carefully and open ourselves to receiving insights, teachings and inspiration. Each of the peace chambers around the world conducts this ceremony so we are connecting to global network of caring souls.

Please email to let us know that you are coming at least two days before the ceremony.
The House of Mica Inc. is federally recognized as a non-profit organization.  General donations to the House of Mica, that is donations that are made separate from your give-away to participate in a specific event, are tax-deductible. We will provide you with documentation needed to claim the donations as a tax deduction. These general donations help make the work accessible to all regardless of ability to offer give-away and will also help support our "dance away" program.
