China Beefs up Food Safety Law
 

Xinhua, 25 April 2015

The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, adopted an amendment to the 2009 Food Safety Law on Friday with the heaviest penalties yet for offenders. The new law will go into effect on 1 October 2015.

Fujian Provincial Project on Abalone Species Innovation and Breeding Has Passed On-site Acceptance Inspection

In all, the Project Group bred 5.587 million young hybrid Abalones from Haliotis sieboldii Reeve and H. discus Reeve, with average shell length at 1.88 cm; and 3.455 million young hybrid Abalones of H. fulgens and H. discus Reeve, with average shell length at 1.44 cm.

It was reported that the geographical indication - “Dongshan Abalone”- had been registered with the Trademark Bureau under the China General Administration of Industry and Commerce on 14 July 2014.
