Leadership hustings reminder

Tim Farron and Norman Lamb, the two contenders for the leadership of the Liberal Democrats will be attending a hustings meeting at the Royal Station Hotel, next to the Central Station, (Neville Street, Newcastle, NE1 5DH) on Friday 19th June. Doors open at 6.30pm and the event itself kicks off at 7.30pm. You are strongly advised to get there early.Bring your membership card or some form of ID.

The event will be your chance to see the two candidates in action and to question them on their views and the direction in which they want to take the party. Finishing time is expected to be around 9.30pm.

You will receive your ballot paper in the final weekend of June by post and you must return it completed by 15th July.

Some members from Gateshead will be meeting up in the Centurion Bar at the Central Station at 5.45pm. If you are a bit early for the 6.30pm start, feel free to join other members there.

Meet your Council Team

At 6.30pm on Monday 22nd June, Lib Dem members in Gateshead are invited to meet the leadership team of the group on Gateshead Council.

The meeting will be held at Gateshead Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH, and all members, especially our many new ones, are welcome to join us. We want to keep the meeting as informal as possible but there will be an agenda:

Introductions
Discussion about how Gateshead Liberal Democrats work and our role on the Council
Plans of the group to develop themes and policies on which we will be campaigning
Campaign plans in Gateshead
Your views and ideas - what would you like to see us doing as a party and council group? What would you like to do to help the party?
Any other business.

Buffet and bar

We are having a buffet for members on Friday 3rd July, 6.30pm-9.30pm at Marley Hill Community Centre, Church Street, Marley Hill, NE16 5DW. This is a free event (but donations are always welcome) though there will also be a pay bar. All members are welcome to come along.

Autumn Conference

The Liberal Democrats' autumn conference will be held on 19th-23rd September at Bournemouth. All members are entitled to attend. You can take part in debates, attend fringe meetings and meet lots of like minded people.
