Don't be fooled, mood issues occur in summer too!
Many may feel that summer, sun, and fun improve our mood and decrease concerns regarding depression and/or anxiety. This may be true for some- more daylight hours, time outside, and vacations can positively impact us. However, at times, the pressure to be positive, active, and travel during the summer may play a role in depression. We may feel guilty if we don't want to go to a social function. We may get frustrated- "why aren't I feeling happy like so-and-so?". The intensity of the heat may negatively impact us. Remember your self care! Here is a link to reminders of how to care for yourself. Also, if you are feeling amazing this summer, that means it's a great time to practice your self care and get into a good routine for when you really need it!
Have time for summer activities but have a limited budget?
Check out the Denver area's free events here. Not in the Denver area? I bet your town has free events too! Check with the Chamber of Commerce or the city's official website. Remember that you don't have to plan the biggest, most expensive events to make summer fun. Go outside. Pack a lunch. Take a family walk. BBQ. Hike. Star gaze. Ride your bike. Have a potluck with the neighbors.

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes in the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time. -John Lubbock
