Ann Foundation supports World Day Against Child Labor, June 12th

Inspiring Volunteers in Bihar: The Gayatri Foundation

Our partnership with the Gayatri Foundation began when Vishal Bhimrajka applied to volunteer with the Ann Foundation. Although the position that Vishal applied for had been filled, Ann encouraged him to take up a project in support of at-risk children in his hometown. Knowing that the children and youth in Bihar were often subjected to unpaid and exploitative labor, the project took off.

Vishal, inspired by the idea of volunteering for change, approached Abhijeet to use the existing facilities in the Gayatri Foundation to begin the classes. Through designing and implementing online courses, the Ann Foundation was pleased to help free children in Bihar from the bound of unwanted work and child labor.

We at the Ann Foundation invest in empowering our local and international volunteer core to engage their demographic to motivate change!

Inspiring Volunteers in Bihar: The Ahmed Educational and Welfare Society

A new partnership with the Ahmed Educational and Welfare Society began in light of our work with the Gayatri Foundation, in Bihar. Farhat Nasim applied to teach with the Foundation, but was inspired by Ann to take up a new project for at-risk children in her neighborhood. She now runs the society through her home and currently assists 25 children in getting an education, at no charge.

The society aims to provide these children with access to knowledge, with a goal of empowering them and ultimately helping them to become economically independent individuals. On offer are courses in Basic English, behavioural skills and Math.

When these children watched our Skype classes for the first time, their smiles warmed our hearts!

Using Education to Free Children from Child Labor in Bihar

By engaging children through education, the Ann Foundation is effectively removing obstacles that stand in the way of their attending school. Through the support of our generous donors the Ann Foundation has provided reliable education as a critical factor in the struggle against the economic exploitation of children. We are eternally grateful for the work of our incredible volunteers for their passion and commitment to fighting against child labor.
