Dear <<First Name>>,
In the midst of historic drought, we'll turn this week in worship to the story of God's life-giving waters. I'm thrilled to weave Godly Play's story of baptism with reflection on the significance of baptism in our own community. I hope our worship gathering will speak to those of us who have wondered about the meaning of our own baptism and also to those wondering about being baptized in the future.
We will celebrate Baptism in worship on October 25. If you would like to explore questions around baptism or learn more about being baptized please email Linda here.
Pastor Linda and I were away last week in southern California for a conference called Seizing an Alternative: Toward an Ecological Civilization. We gathered with over 1,500 people from a variety of disciplines and vocations to reflect on the ecological challenges facing our world and to discern alternatives. While we were confronted with the dire, and sometimes overwhelming, threats related to climate change from a variety of perspectives, we also came away inspired and hopeful. We look forward to weaving our insights & learnings regarding environmental justice into future worship series, capital improvement priorities & implementation, and the overall life of our church community. We're excited to share more in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Have a wonderful weekend and look forward to gathering in worship Sunday.
Peace,
Matt
