This Week's Tips
Greetings my excellent friends! This week I've got two great photography tips for you, one about composition, and one demonstrating a cool camera "hack" to open up some creative possibilities.
Create Visual Tension
If you've been following me for any amount of time you'll have heard my mantra: fill the frame with what you like. But what happens if what you like is actually two things? You can use this simple rule to place your subjects for maximum visual tension and dynamism in the frame.
Long Exposures Without Using Filters
Have you ever wanted to shoot long exposures in bright light but don't have any filters? In this tip I demonstrate a simple camera "hack" that will let you double, triple, or even 10-tuple your shutter speed without blowing out your image.
This Week's Photography Assignment
For those of you who participate in the bi-monthly photo assignment, this week's is to create a photo with two subjects and maximum visual tension (make sure to watch the first tutorial in this email to see how to do that). Once you've completed the assignment please share your photos with the ProPhotoTips group on Facebook. Make sure to hashtag your photos with #VisualTension so they're easy to find, and let us know what you were thinking when you took the photos. Looking forward to seeing what you shoot!
