Pre-Stampede and Neighbour Day BBQ
11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Come on out to our 2015 Pre-Stampede and Neighbour Day BBQ. We'll be hosting the event at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre again this year rain or shine, join us and have a great time! We'll have live entertainment, face painters, balloon artists 2 Bouncy Castles (a toddler train and a giant bouncy with a slide for the bigger kids) and of course, the adorable animals from Butterfield acres as well as a delicious BBQ with Dogs and Burgers donated by Tony Nicastro (Nicastro's Public House)! Community Members and Kids eat free and you'll be able to purchase a membership at the event if you don't already have one. Non-members can purchase a lunch ticket for $5/adult. Hope to see you all there!

QUIZ NIGHT!
Back by popular demand (but the last one for the summer) we present Quiz Night!
Interested in testing your knowledge of current events or geography?
How well do you know sports or history?
Join your neighbours at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. for a fun night of trivia! There is no charge to play, but there will be a cash bar. Teams of two to 100 are welcome! We hope to see you there!

WEEDERS WANTED

If you are willing to smell like dirt, if only for a little while, please come and join us on Tuesdays from 10:30am to 12:30pm until the end of June to weed, prune and add mulch to the Centennial Garden. Soon to be seven years old, the Garden is in need of a little attention, and some WHMCA members have committed to beating the weeds and over growth into submission. Many hands make light work so come out and help if you can.

Book Club
Escape your day-to-day with a great book and some lively banter!
This easygoing group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7-9 pm at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre Board Room. Bring a beverage of choice to enjoy with snacks provided by that month’s moderator.To join our group or for information on upcoming books, please e-mail Kendra at ou-chi@hotmail.com.

Mom's Night Out
Come Join Us for Playgroup!
Are you a mom, dad, grandparent or caregiver in the neighbourhood and would like to have a place to go to meet other people and have your children socialize and play with others? Then come and join us at the Winston Heights-Mountview Playgroup held at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre. We have great toys for the kids to play with and this is a great way to get out and meet others. Playgroup is held each Monday morning (from September until June, last one for the summer is June 29 ) starting at 10:00 a.m. and lasts to 11:30 a.m. This is an informal, non-registered playgroup, so there's no need to register, just come out and join us. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact Mary-Beth at marybethwalshn2@gmail.com or at 403 209-1691.
Also, if you'd be interested in having a 'story time' during playgroup, please contact me via e-mail. If we have enough interest, I will organize a Calgary Public Library public outreach coordinator to schedule us in for regular story times. They bring books on a specific theme and read a few to the children while guardians quietly visit. The books are even available to be checked out if you bring your library card with you.

Volunteer Opportunities
Have you ever thought of getting more involved in the Community? Have you ever wondered how you can get to know more of the people who live in this great community of Winston Heights-Mountview? Volunteering is a great way to achieve both these things and so much more. Right now we're looking for people to oversee some of our regular events.
POTLUCK
Coordinating Potluck is another great way to get involved! We need someone who is willing to take over this once-a-month event which takes place at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre the 3rd Friday of each month from September to June.
All the coordinator needs to do is write a small article for the newsletter each month, reminding people of the date and time for Potluck and provide their information as a contact should anyone want further information. I (Mary-Beth) can speak from experience that this is a very rewarding event to coordinate. I've been doing it now for over 4 years and I have enjoyed it thoroughly and have made some life-long friends in the process.

Mom's Night Out
This is a very popular monthly event. All that's required for the coordinator is to write an article for the newsletter each month from September to June, and to send a reminder e-mail to the Mom's Night Out e-mail list.
This is another event that I can honestly say has been an absolute pleasure to coordinate and I've met some amazing women in our community in the process. The coordinator would be the main contact for the group should anyone want further information, or want to be added to the e-mail list. And the coordinator books the reservation at what ever restaurant is chosen for any particular month. This event has not only been a favorite to coordinate but a favourite to attend as well.

Come Join Us for Playgroup!
Our play group which runs ever Monday from September to the end of June is looking for someone to take over the role of being the contact for this event. This role can be filled by one person, or several people on a rotating basis. The only responsibility for this role is to write a small article for the newsletter each month indicating the days and times for playgroup, as well as the name and number of the person to contact if people have questions.
It takes very little time, but is a very rewarding role, and a really great way to meet other parents in the neighborhood.

Fitness for the Older Adult
This event basically runs itself. We need one person who would be willing to take over being the contact for this event. All the role requires is a monthly article for the newsletter indicating the dates and time of classes, as well as a contact name and number for people to call should they have questions or suggestions.
