A Note from IWN President

Has this just not been a dynamic year at IWN so far?!  I feel like we need a Friday night football half-time show just to hooray and celebrate a little with song and dance!

Thanks to
Carla, Irving Public Libraries, we had a phenomenal tour of the brand new library downtown this spring.

Teddie, Irving Cares, is getting ready to show us some VIP love next month as we come together to sweeten up summer with a canned fruit drive for families in need.

The outpouring of love for Stipes has provided much needed cash for supplies and enough food to feed an army at last week’s luncheon thanks to Margie’s leadership.

Sharon has been going gangbusters at the Main Place, and I am just so proud of the way this organization has come together to support her and her team that dress children and families in need in confidence and grace … and new clothes too.

And while we can’t take credit for it,
Crystal, Irving Schools Foundation, sure can as she shot and went so far beyond her fundraising goals this spring and passed out more scholarships to Irving students than has ever been done before in the history of the organization. What a way to pay it forward!

An ingenious idea from
Ginny, The Richey Company, has a new adventure coming this fall that all of our foodies and lovers of home baked goods will adore.

Jo Ann, Glory House, has been oh so graciously hosting us week after week for the Friday Lunch Club that has created a tremendous opportunity for friends inside and outside of IWN to gather and build relationships.

And that is before we even mention the sweet treats and encouragement our Secret Sister are giving to one another under
Sloan’s direction.

The amazing programs
Linda, Consulting Services International, has been rolling out this year have me tickled pink, with last month’s True Color’s my favorite by far! Go Team Blue!

We even had a chance to give Linda Harper-Brown, State Representative, lots of love and a huge thanks as January’s Member of the Quarter – something so long overdue.

And
Dr Elba Garcia, County Commissioner, has doubled her efforts to connect with our ladies, even lending us her staff to help host events!

And in case you haven’t noticed, we are overflowing with
new members, new energy, and lots of super women power!

Jo-Ann Bresowar, a longtime strong community volunteer has been lending us her insight and wisdom
Joy Goodrum, the amazing new E.D. at La Buena Vida has such a tremendous heart-and-a-half for teens and rallying our community together
Cindy Porter, at Porter’s Army Navy has more patriotism in her small finger than most do in their entire body
Angela Zepeda, at IBT is oodles of smiles and energy every time she walks in the room
Claudia Bracero, Norwes Ind., is hands down my favorite new Irving’ite and full of ideas
Brandi Hargrove, Hargrove-team Realtors, bringing vibrancy and lots of little momma love to the Heritage district and the reality sector
Myrna Mercer, is a sweetheart none can ever walk away from without just being encouraged and uplifted,
Carrie Stanford, Angels & Moore, completes a dynamic duo of quick wit and passion for Irving
Jennifer Austin, Las Colinas Assoc., is bringing us class and style and a work-ethic that makes me tired just hearing all she is doing to build and support Las Colinas
And
Sharon Schierling, Refined Perspectives, is all about helping ladies get to the next level and wildly succeed!

I could go on and on! There is something about each of you I simply adore! You ladies are making an unbelievable difference in this community, in this unique organization determined to empower lives, and by your testimony and friendship generating such a hub-bub about women from across our city, from the southern sector to the most northern tip – are calling to find out how to engage and get involved. Women seeking women just like you as friends, mentors, networking buddies, collaborators, clients, and inspiration.

Ladies you have done so well, in your personal lives, in your business, in your volunteering and relationships to stand fast and not be overcome by the struggles of this world. Your integrity has proven infallible. Your example of strength and courage has so inspired me. Authentic strength built of strong resolution, that has fought cancer, fed the hungry, clothed the naked, given a home to the homeless, and created economic opportunity, given people a means to purposeful lives and sustainable work and perpetual encouragement. You are uncharacteristically charitable, persistent, and respectful, and live well a life dedicated to goodwill and positive choices.

Our verse this month is “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Cor 16: 13-14)

And you ladies – you are the best testimony of this I know. Your love, demonstrated through action, not only yields fruit, but moves hundreds of others to action and spreads the harvest so wide – it will take generations to gather all you have sown into one another, IWN, and our city!

I am so proud of you! So very thrilled to witness all you are doing, where you are moving, and how you are letting all you do be done in love! Way to go! Keep up the good work. Stay strong. And keep that love flowing!

What a great time was had at our recent
Appreciation Luncheon for Stipes Elementary teachers and staff.

Wanna be Uncle Sam?

Here's your chance to plant a little patriotism. Join with other Irving residents this year in The Great Flag Caper and help plant flags along a section of MacArthur Blvd. in Irving in celebration of the 4th of July.

If you've ever been in Irving around Independence Day, you've noticed the little flags lining the streets at curbside - a tradition started by local realtor Nell Anne Hunt 22 years ago.

If you want to volunteer to "plant" and/or "harvest" some of these flags, please contact long time Irving residents

June Program

What a wonderful web we weave .....
...... when connecting to others at IWN lunc
heons and events!

Join us this month for a wonderful interactive networking experience. Last month during the awesome program by Alan Cassel we discovered things about ourselves ….. what makes us tick, what makes us crazy (you know all you gold who have an orange in your life that drives you crazy), and how best to relate to those around us.

Like the spider who meticulously builds it's web to catch sustenace, we build our own web to catch interpersonal sustenance—from what plumber to use to "what's the best Mexican restaurant in town" or "who would I call to get the best deal and service for wedding announcements."  It's never ending!

Next week, we will spend a few minutes at our respective tables getting to know a little more about our tablemates.  It won’t be a dissertation about ourselves, but a little more than our regular speedy round table introductions.  Come prepared to share just a little more about you, your business, or community involvement—and to listen carefully to others.

Oh, and be sure to bring extra business cards with you.

We Want YOU ..... to attend ..... our  June Luncheon
