Presidents Report
We are pleased to announce that Joan Rohl from the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology, has been awarded an Australasian Wound & Tissue Society International Travel Award. Joan will be attending the 7th Joint Meeting of the European Tissue Repair Society & the Wound Healing Society in Copenhagen, Denmark (21st-23rd October 2015), where she will be giving an oral presentation on her work on the intracellular transport of MMP14 in macrophages. Congratulations Joan!
For those of you who are early career researchers, Drs Brooke Farrugia and Zlatko Kopecki have written an excellent piece on how to boost your track record for the newsletter. This includes things like applying for travel awards and to help you boost your track record the AWTRS will be announcing another round of travel awards. These awards will cover postdoctoral scientists with up to 8 year post PhD experience and can be used to attend a wound related conference. Two grants of $1000 will be awarded for international conferences or $500 for national conferences. The award can be spent on travel to the conference, accommodation and registration as well as training in a host wound related laboratory. Look out for the adverts later this year.
Finally, if there are any budding science writers out there who would like to contribute news, reports or articles to the newsletter we are always happy to receive them. Just send to: Dr Brooke Farrugia b.farrugia@unsw.edu.au
