Mountain Sage Aftercare Program

Aftercare Registration opens June 19, 2015 at 8:00am

Thank you to those of who completed the online survey a few weeks ago regarding our upcoming aftercare program. Your feedback was incredibly helpful. We are thrilled to be able to support our community of families through this new addition to Mountain Sage.

Program Cost

Registration is a per semester commitment. 
Fall Semester: August 26 – December 18
Spring Semester: January 5 – June 3
 

M, T, W, & F:
3:30pm to 6:00pm, $20/day 

Early Release Days:
1:00pm to 6:00pm, $40/day

*There will be a $5 discount per sibling per day on M,T,W,F; and a $10 discount per sibling on Early Release Days. Early Release Days are generally Thursdays. The first and last days of school are also early release days.

You will be charged monthly based on the number of children you have enrolled, and the number of days per week they are enrolled. We will not charge for days of the week that school is not in session such as holidays or staff development days. Your monthly charge will not fluctuate with a child’s absence from the program.

Registration Details

Fall Registration for "Contracted Use" will open promptly at 8:00am on Friday June 19th.  The "Occasional Use" option (drop-in option) for this program will be outlined after contracted use spaces are secured, so that we may assess the number of available drop-in spaces. 

To register your child(ren) for a spot in the aftercare program:
  1. Please click here to register, beginning at 8:00am on June 19th. 
  2. Fill out the sign-up form online, and press submit. 
  3. We will notify you via email if you have secured a place in the program.  
  4. Upon notification of acceptance into the program, a deposit of $20 will be required to hold your spot in the program. Deposit payments will be due by the end of the business day Friday June 26th. If deposit payments are not received by Friday June 26th, your spot will become available to the next family on the waitlist. There are two ways to pay your deposit
(a) By check in person at the school. Office hours are Tuesday & Wednesday 9am-2pm 
(b) By check mailed into Mountain Sage with a postmark date of 6/26/15.  2310 E Prospect Rd suite A, Fort Collins, CO 80525. Please make checks payable to Mountain Sage Community School.


Once you have paid your deposit and secured your space in the program, Aftercare Program Coordinator, Anna Harris will contact you to arrange your monthly payment schedule-- as outlined in the program cost guidelines above.

If you do not secure a space during the fall registration period, you will be placed on the waitlist. If at any time throughout the year a spot opens up in the program, we will notify the next family on the waitlist.  For spring registration, those currently enrolled in the program will have an option to re-enroll, while waitlist applicants will be notified of any openings.

Each fall, we will begin a brand new registration process. 

Curriculum Details

The program will be multi-aged and available to all students K-7. The student teacher ratio will be 12:1 and our staff is experienced and trained in all safety measures required of the school. Research shows that mixed-age and mixed-ability groupings maximize student success by encouraging cooperative learning and peer tutoring. Inspiration for the aftercare curriculum will be drawn from outdoor education, environmental education, and Waldorf teaching methods, with an emphasis on self-directed learning. We understand that your child will have been working hard all day in the classroom; the aftercare program is set up to allow your child a safe and structured decompression space while simultaneously engaging their minds and bodies in an outdoor setting. As a class we will spend time at the "Fairy Woods", along the Poudre River, in nearby Edora Park, and other local areas of interest. This program will take the children on an exploration of some of the local natural habitats that we are lucky to be in such close proximity to. With the outdoor emphasis of this Aftercare program, parents will need to ensure that their child(ren) have appropriate and adequate outdoor clothing. Even in the winter months when the sun goes down early, we will still spend time outdoors. Appropriate clothing will be required.

Logistic Details

As stated above, the Mountain Sage Aftercare Program will be offered from 3:30pm to 6:00pm on M,T,W,F, and 1:30pm to 6:00pm on Thursdays.  Pick up time will run from 5:30-6:00pm. Considering the outdoor emphasis of this program, we will frequently be taking the students off of the Mountain Sage campus to visit local areas of interest. We will always plan to arrive back at the school in time for 5:30 pick up. There will be a $1 late fee for each minute a child is picked up after 6:00pm. You will sign an acknowledgement upon pick up, and will be billed this late fee.
