Child protection forum: "Safe home for life reforms"
Family Worker Training & Development Program (FWT+DP) coordinated the two day event on the 15th & 16th of June, 2015. It was attended by over 40 local workers.
 

The Forum covered changes to child protection legislation and practice under the ‘Safe Home for Life’ reforms.  The first day had keynote speakers who spoke in detail about the reform. They took park in shared discussion and delivered presentations on the key messages.

The second day focused on the impacts the reforms were to have on  Aboriginal Families and Community. The day featured Cheryl Orr. Ms Orr has been nominated Indigenous Lawyer of the year 2014. We need your help!
The Aboriginal Women's Cultural Support Program are fundraising to attend the National SNAICC Conference in Perth. The conference is from the 15th-17th of September. The National SNAICC conference is the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Conference in the Southern Hemisphere. For more info about the conference, click here.

The conference will be an amazing professional and personal development opportunity for our local workers and community members. Show your support by attending their fundraising Trivia Night on July 31. Cost is $20/person or $140/table of 8. To purchase tickets contact Jackie on 0410 507 505.

Engaging Parents Impacted by : Practical skills for group Work
New Date! Now on July 29th. This workshop is for all those who provide group work to families with children affected by Trauma. By attending you will enhance your group work abilities while engaging in a discussion with other who also work with those impacted by trauma. For more info and to register, click here.
Responding to squalor & hoarding when working with children
This workshop will run Aug 5th.  Squalor and hoarding is a challenging issue to address and can have significant health and social impacts on children. Explore the meaning of hoarding and its relationship with neglect as well as identifying strategies for working with families. For more info and to register, click here.

writing effective case notes

This workshop is back due to popular demand! One Aug 11th, this practice based workshop will further develop your skills in case notes and increase your capacity to capture relevant content. The trainer will also explore solutions to common problems experienced by workers when writing case notes and reports. For more information please about this, click here
