Stepping off the airplane, I expected to do a Christ in the Passover in a few churches. What transpired during this 8-day ministry adventure was truly remarkable. Great is His faithfulness! God opened up many opportunities for ministry. I had 10 speaking engagements in 6 days. Aside from sharing the Passover presentation in 4 different venues, I also taught in a seminary, did a radio interview, preached a message on evangelism and led a bible study at a church, addressed a group of pastors in Luis’ denomination, and ministered the gospel in a high school. There were many people who had never met a Jewish person, much less a Jewish believer in Jesus.
We spent 2 days in Langue, a town of less than 10,000 near the southern border. The remainder of the trip I ministered in Siguatepeque, a city of 85,000 in the central mountains of the country where Luis and his family live. It’s green, colorful, and temperate, at 3,000 feet above sea level.
It was a privilege to share my faith journey and encourage and equip God’s people to fulfill the Great Commission. It was also a joy share the Jewish roots of the gospel found in the Old Testament, to teach about the New Covenant, and enlighten people’s understanding of Israel’s place in God’s redemptive plan.
It’s difficult to articulate in a few paragraphs all God accomplished in and through this season of ministry. Honduras is a rugged, beautiful, and mountainous country with warm, lovely people. Know that the church is alive and well in Honduras, as I met many God-fearing people who love Him and serve Him.
When Jesus told the disciples they would be His witnesses ‘to the utter ends of the earth’ in Acts 1:8, how could they have known what unexpected blessings they would experience as they stepped out in faith!
As I took a step of faith and experienced Honduras for the first time, I rejoice in the Lord and am grateful for an abundance of unexpected blessings!
