ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: CATERINE PICARDO
Caterine (Cate) Picardo has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability both during and following her work as a RISE Clean Transportation Fellow. She was also recently awarded Kupu's 2015 Alumni of the Year Award.
DONOR SPOTLIGHT: AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK
Mahalo to American Savings Bank, who has generously supported Kupu through their employee giving campaign, sponsorship of Kupu events, volunteer participation at our Lau Kupu Work Day and more.
WENDY SPENCER VISITS KUPU
Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, visited Hawai‘i for the first time ever this May. Kupu hosted Ms. Spencer at its Kewalo Harbor Training Facility, where she had an opportunity to connect with local participants and even pound poi.
KUPU INTERNS HELP PLANT 20,000 TREES
Kupu's Extended Internship Program hosted multiple service projects in the spring, including a trip to Nakula Forest Reserve where staff and interns assisted in planting nearly 20,000 trees in observance of Arbor Day.

Click the video to the left to watch a feature from Ward Village on our joint wa ‘a building project, created by Kupu, Kānehūnāmoku Voyaging Academy, and other community partners. It was completed and launched in January 2015.
HELPING HAWAI‘I’S SCHOOLS BECOME MORE SUSTAINABLE
Interns with Kupu’s RISE Program recently completed an exciting pilot project with Ka Hei, the DOE’s 5-year program to increase STEM opportunities, transition to more sustainable energy usage, and reduce energy/operational costs across campuses.
