How's things? I'm excited about this week's newsletter, with a round-up of one of my favorite blocks, the 'plus'. So many ways to make this iconic shape. Hope you find a new one to try!

WHAT'S UP

An unexpected project sighting this week were my Oilcloth pillows that randomly appeared on apartment therapy's feature, 21 Fun Things to Make with Oilcloth or Laminated Cotton. It's been a while since I made these pillows, but I remember them being quick and fun. Check out my original blogpost if you're interested in working with oilcloth or laminated cotton - I included links with lots of info about both.

WORTH A READ

ROUND-UP

Well wasn't it convenient that as I was gathering plus block tutorials to share with you, Rachel/Stitched in Color posted her Simple Plus Blocks. Simple maybe, but absolutely perfect. [stitchedincolor]

I knew Leanne/shecanquilt was planning to share more about her recent Giant Plus Quilt eventually, so again, perfect timing for us!
I love how she switches out the center of some of the plusses, giving it her own modern take. [shecanquilt]

Inside Addition, the clever block from Jessica/a little gray sparked the very popular #insideadditionqiultalong earlier this year. A twist on the Japanese X and + block, making it scrappy is a lovely way to go! [alittlegressica]
My mouth may have dropped open the first time I saw English paper pieced Plus blocks posted by Svetlana/s.o.t.a.k handmade. Come to find out, they are the brainchild of Mollie/wild olive, and I'm still in awe of them.
The Plus Hex by Nicole/snips snippets is another unique one, and I find it as charming as can be. [snippets101]

Every quilt I've seen made with Ashley/film in the fridge's intersection block is drop-dead gorgeous. There are several different block cutting measurements that help create the fun look. [filminthefridge]

P.S. Swaps are all the rage these days, aren't they? You're bound to find one (or several) to join on Instagram. Check @openquiltswaps and hashtags #swapaddicts and #sewingandswapping!
