Railway Historian
Tuesday 21 July, 6.30 - 7.30pm

Historian, author and museum specialist Philippa Rogers has been fascinated by Western Australia’s railway history for over 30 years. Philippa, a volunteer and past President of Rail Heritage WA, will share her knowledge of Western Australia’s railways and their importance to Australia’s war efforts.

Voices that would soothe a savage beast and songs with words you could understand and relate to. A very special, sophisticated show dedicated to the lives and music of those velvet toned performers known as The Crooners.
 
Revisit a bygone era as the Jukebox Lady performs a selection of songs and shares stories from various decades.

Eye Health

This informative session will be conducted by the Ophthalmology Fellow for Lions Outback Vision Team, who will discuss work they do in WA.

The CWA...more than just tea and scones!

Since its formation in 1914, the Country Women’s Association has achieved much more for local communities than just making tea and scones.
 
CWA representative Sara Kenny will explore the role the association has played in supporting Western Australian Communities, and reveal insights and observations from the perspective of a longtime member.
 
This event is presented by the Birtwistle Local Studies Library.

Baby Bliss

This special workshop with Rebecca Jane Flanagan will provide parents and caregivers of babies 0 – 12 months with the tools and confidence to explore music with their little ones.
 
They will learn a repertoire of songs, rhymes and finger plays to sing with their children everyday as part of their routines and transitions.

Jukebox Lady:
Parade of Hits

at Armadale Library


Parade of Hits features a whirlwind journey from the 1920s to the 1970s. Which song received 24 encores when it debuted? Who broke the heart of Connie Francis? What year did we Shake, Rattle and Roll?
 
Learn more about classic hits through the decades and the artists who made those songs famous as the Jukebox Lady performs a selection of songs.

Cleaning Chemistry

Cut through the advertising spin of the home hygiene industry with the help of elbow grease and bi-carb soda. Cleaning Chemistry will arm you with a basic understanding of household science and a spray bottle full of natural alternatives to toxic and expensive cleaners.
 
Presented by Switch Your Thinking as a part of National Science Week 2015, this hands on workshop will demonstrate that cleaning can be effective as well as environmentally and budget friendly. All participants will leave with a Cleaning Chemistry goodie bag.
