July 2015

Message from New Zone Gallery Coordinator, Steve La Riccia:

Welcome back again New Zone Fans!

Things are continuing to heat up at the New Zone Gallery. For starters, June was record sales month for the gallery. This makes all of our members very happy, also the buyers excited about their purchases of fine art for themselves and their friends.

Second, the gallery will launch a new and improved interactive website in July at www.newzonegallery.org. Viewers of the site will be able to check out what’s going on at the Zone, take a virtual tour of the gallery, submit for gallery membership and on-line submission for the open, non-juried “Zone 4 All” and “Salon du Peuple” shows, donate to the gallery though PayPal, links to Facebook and so much more. The Artists' Zone, which is our members' page will have detailed information about each artist, images, slide shows, videos, contact info and links to their web site if they have one. So please check the new site out and continue to do so as updates are added.

During the month of July, the gallery is proud to announce our Vice-president of the New Zone Arts Collective, Andrea Ros will be our featured artist and Demetra Kalams our spotlight artist. We are the first stop on the First Friday ArtWalk on July 3rd, with the opening reception starting at 5:30pm. As usual, music, food, beverages and of course the New Zone artists will be on hand for your enjoyment.

So, Happy 4th of July, stay cool and hydrated and come on down to the Zone and support the arts community.

July 3rd, First Stop, First Friday Artwalk

New Zone featured artist, Andrea Ros, in love with color, shares her personal project, The Apocalypse Carousel, an attempt to draw focus to the harvest of greed and apathy we are reaping today, and to urgently redirect our attention to the beauty of life, conjuring action. It is an invitation to mindfully engage and join the dance, no matter the outcome.

Her tapestries are currently on display at the Saatchi Gallery in London as well as in local galleries. She has exhibited at Lincoln Center, NYC, the Arc Gallery in San Francisco and the Alexi Era Gallery in St. Louis. A cancer survivor and environmental activist, she is also participating in The Arlecchino Project, a global art project based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Wool Against Weapons, a 7 mile long art collaboration protesting nuclear weapons in the UK.
