JULY 2015 at the SALON
New York:  A City Symphony
presented by Troy Herion
New York: A City Symphony is a visual-music film and composition that unites contemporary orchestral music with film of New York’s urban landscape. Inspired by synaesthesia—where one sense becomes intertwined with, even indistinguishable from, another—this composition invites the audience to see sound and hear images.  Featuring documentary footage of New York captured over the course of six months, the composition explores this contemporary setting in six short movements.
This work was performed live at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2013.  Troy Herion will join us via Skype before and after the screening.
Preceded by Manhatta, the classic 1921 silent "city symphony" short film by painter Charles Sheeler and photographer Paul Strand.
