The Grande Prairie Sport Council is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization representing and serving the Grande Prairie regional sport community.
We serve as a collective voice for sport in our region, striving for quality sport experiences for all and attracting, creating and retaining sport tourism opportunities for Grande Prairie region.

Grant writing is hard, time consuming work with no guarantee of a positive result. However, funders do have money and they want to give it to deserving organizations. The workshop focuses on skills and strategies to develop effective grant applications. Trainer is Cheryl King of Greenleaf Consulting.

The Lacrosse 2015 Alberta Provincial Games are being held in Grande Prairie July 10,11,12. Games are happening is 7 arenas: The Crosslink County Sportsplex, The Leisure Center, Soccer Dome, Dave Barr Arena, Revolution Place, Wembley Arena and Sexsmith Arena.
There will be 1200 players plus coaches and family roaming around - be sure to give them your friendliest welcome when you see them!
Performance Training Groups July and August Creating strong, powerful and durable athletes SUMMER 2015
Philosophy/Approach ASDC provides developmentally appropriate performance training based on sport science. Sessions are led by experienced and university educated Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS). Training develops the right physical attributes at the right time with focus on technical proficiency and movement mechanics to take you to the next level of sport.

Develop attributes required for athletic success: strength, speed, power, agility, and quickness
Decrease likelihood of injury
Increase ability to train hard over a longer period of time

What's all the fuss about? If you haven't heard or experienced Tour of Alberta (TOA) yet it is a world class professional cycling event. Cyclists travel through Alberta racing at 6 different stages. The event is world renowned and can be compared to the Tour de France! The event is broadcast on the major sports networks to an audience of over 45 million people and we will be hosting 2 of the stages!
One race is in the City of Grande Prairie (Eastlink Centre) and the second one starts and finishes at Evergreen Park. There will be festivals at both with heaps of entertainment, food trucks, bouncy castles, demos and more so it’ll a phenomenal event for the whole family! – it’s a big deal for our region and it’s a really exciting event!

Physical Literacy and Sport 4 Life Summit
Sport for Life is a movement to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada.
As a Sport 4 life community Grande Prairie will integrate physical literacy concepts, increasing opportunities for participation in play, physical activity and sport. Strengthening the community and building capacity in all sectors related to physical activity.
Joining us at the CS4L Grande Prairie Summit will be Dr. Dean Kriellaars and Dr. Doug Gleddie.
Dr. Dean Kriellaars is the Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, School of Medical Rehabilitation in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Kriellaars has worked extensively in the field of physical literacy for well over a decade.
Dr. Doug Gleddie is the Assistant Professor of Elementary Physical Education at the University of Alberta.

The Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP) supports local athletes with integrated sport science support in the areas of Strength & Conditioning, Sport Psychology, and Sport Nutrition.

Sport advocates that become members of the Grande Prairie Sport Council have an opportunity to play a role in influencing the growth and enhancement of sport in our region.
Members include individuals, sport and other community organizations, and business. Only individual members may hold office.
