A Banner Month for Better Days
There are times when rescue is difficult. The organization and volunteers may be drained physically, emotionally and financially. You look into the eyes of each animal awaiting a home and wonder why. Why are you still here? Each request of an animal in need tugs at your heartstrings yet you become cold due to the ignorance of people around you. Ego and conflict begin to get in the way of a mission.
Then, there are moments when you are reminded why it is all worth it. In June, Better Days adopted out six older dogs and cats, several of whom had been long term residents, several who would have been considered ‘unadoptable’ by other organizations. Suddenly, it’s all worth it. Your faith in humanity is restored. You understand why and continue moving forward helping animals in need.
Speedy, a ten year old cat, given up because a family was moving now has a second chance. Sissy, a seven year old cat who had been a BDAL resident since 2011. Sheba, a very shy cat who came to BDAL in 2009 as a stray. Bristol, a dog adopted from Better Days in 2009 who was now being surrendered back to the shelter. And, finally, Justus and Lady J, residents of BDAL since 2009. All now have a true family to call their own and a loving home.
Thank you to those who adopt, who continue to champion for animals in need, who continue to donate and volunteer. When you need a reminder of why, here it is.
