Summer Opportunities

Don't let the summer sneak by, use every second.

We are focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mechanics) this summer! This summer we have a Science themed VBS, STEAM themed day camps, Creative Writing Camps, and music classes.

But of course let's start off with a few things for the parents!

Our first Homeschool Co-op planning/information meeting for the Fall 2015 semester was last month. There was a chance to see the facility and talk about expectations. If you missed it, no worries, we will be scheduling another one later in July. If you are wondering when registration opens, first I need committed teachers.

Classes will be held Monday 10 to 2 and Wednesdays 10 to 2. The fall semester will run September 2 through November 18th. PreK through 6th grade classes will run for 50 minutes while Highschool classes can be scheduled in 50 min or 90 min blocks. If you are interested in teaching please fill out the form at the bottom of this email. I have been blown away by the interest in this group and if I have missed a message from you I apologize. I was not anticipating this much interest and am beyond thrilled but needing to streamline the process. Even if we have already spoken please please fill out the below form.

There has been a lot of questions regarding whether or not this is a religious co-op.  I just want to take a second to clarify that all are welcome. Yes we are meeting at a church but there is no statement of faith that anyone needs to sign to participate in this co-op. Our community is extremely diverse. The individual classes will naturally lean towards the theology/beliefs of the teacher. For this reason I am asking all teachers to submit a syllabus by August 15th so that everyone who signs up for the class is aware of what is being taught to their children. I strongly encourage an environment of respect and love even when we disagree. If any problems arrive please speak first to the individual (and by this I mean adult) and if the two of you can not resolve the disagreement then bring it to me.

If you have a field trip or class you would like shared in the next newsletter email them to Hope@fpcep.org Subject Line: Homeschool Newsletter

If you received this email as a forward from a friend why not sign up to have it sent directly to you. You can sign up here HOMESCHOOL CO-OP NEWSLETTER and opt out at any time. You won't be spammed, your email will not be shared with others, and you will receive no more then one email a week.

We would love for your children to join us at First Presbyterian for our Wednesday night music program. Our Wednesday night's music program is led by Vanessa Williams.  A dedicated music educator, Vanessa holds two degrees in music, a Texas Music Educator license, and a kindermusik certification.  The kids start off together (K thru 5th) with choir at 6:30 where they learn to sing spirituals and classical music. Then they divide up. At 7 K thru 3rd go to Joyful Noise where they are learning to play various musical instruments and read music while the older kids play on the playground. Then at 7:30 they trade places and the 4th and 5th graders spend the next thirty minutes reading music. We hope you will join us for this fun, high quality, free program.
