Edupeg successfully launches in 10 primary schools in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal
Edupeg worked closely with the Provincial Education Departments to select five schools in each province that could benefit from Edupeg’s in-classroom approach to teacher support and mentorship.
In the Eastern Cape, the launch was held at Jityaza Primary and is being implemented in Tyutyu Primary, Noncedo Primary, EZ Pondo Primary, and Ngqika Primary. The KwaZulu-Natal launch was held at Bonisanani Primary and is being implemented in Dalmeny Primary, Phelelani Primary, Zamimfundo Primary and Zuzokuhle Primary. Both launches were attended by representatives from Edupeg, staff from each school, learners, school governing bodies, Education Department Officials and donors. Learners and school staff performed traditional dances, poetry, speeches and songs to celebrate and welcome the launch. The importance of the project in these communities was very evident, and we look forward to building strong and continued relations with these schools.

The local King Williams Town paper, The Bugle, also wrote about the event.

The support given to these 10 schools is made possible by the generous donations and support of two donors: The FP&M Seta and the HCI Foundation.
Edupeg very warmly welcomes its first intern, Allison Steitz, for the winter. Allison comes to us from the United States off the back of a three month study-abroad programme she attended in Cape Town. As an Albright Institute Fellow, we are very lucky to have her, and she has already started to make an impact on the project. Read more on Allison and her time at Edupeg, here.
Changing Lives

One of our newest Edupeg mentors, Robyn Pitot, came across a new teacher at Bonisanani Primary School. Mr Mdluli inspired her to write a blog on how for him, becoming a teacher late in life, changed his life. Read the full blog here.
SHOUT OUT
All the way to the UK to Mike and Mary Gamble for their most generous donation towards our project. Mike and Mary have visited South Africa numerous times and wanted to give back to a deserving project in a country they have come to love. Their generous donation will be going towards equipping learners in the Eastern Cape with basic stationery needs.

To Edupeg mentor, Robyn Pitot, who competed in her 7th Comrades Marathon in May. Robyn ran a sub 9 hours and fell into the 'Bill Rowan' time category. This is a highly commendable achievement. Well done Robyn!

And to Health-E News for lending us some of their office space in Gauteng to hold some very important meetings. Thank you for your support.
We wish all principals, school staff and learners a wonderful and relaxing holiday.
