UpFront News and Information from the City of St. Peters

If you’re a fan of great classic rock hits like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “No Time,” “Share the Land,” and “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature,” then you won’t want to miss The Burton Cummings Band presented by KSHE-95 on the Main Stage during Celebrate St. Peters 2015 on Saturday night, Sept. 19. Cummings is the former lead singer of The Guess Who and wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s biggest hits.

The action on Saturday night gets going on the Main Stage at 7 p.m. with Firefall, followed by the fantastic fireworks show over the lake at 370 Lakeside Park, and then The Burton Cummings Band. Firefall brings their classic rock sounds and hits like “Strange Way,” “You are the Woman” and “Just Remember I Love You.”

A weekend of great classic rock kicks off on Friday night, Sept. 18, when Rogers and Nienhaus opens for Poco on the Main Stage at Celebrate St. Peters.

Trees & Brush Help Stream Banks

A healthy stream bank relies on healthy vegetation.
The root systems of native trees, shrubs and grasses bind and hold the banks together. Clearing these trees and other vegetation from streams could lead to disaster as well as legal consequences. If you see someone clearing trees and brush from any type of wetlands or stream, please report a concern immediately to the Citizen Action Center at 636-477-6600, ext. 1225.

COMING TO REC-PLEX!

For the second time in four years, the St. Peters Rec-Plex will be home to State Wars Hockey’s United States Roller Hockey Championship event. From July 29 to Aug. 9, the Rec-Plex will again be the center of the roller hockey world when thousands of the best roller hockey players in the
U.S. and Canada travel here for State Wars 11 to compete for glory at the Rec-Plex’s three NHL-size ice rinks. The public can attend the event for free.

In order to accommodate the tournament, the Rec-Plex’s ice rinks will be converted into inline hockey rinks. The ice will be inaccessible to ice skating from July 23 through Aug. 28 due to State Wars and subsequent maintenance.
