Happy Fourth of July!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July!! Don't eat too much and be careful with the fireworks!
Most of you have already taken your big summer vacation but it is not too late to squeeze in one more trip before school starts back. Long weekend trips are the perfect solution and here are some of my favorites- all just a short drive from home. And don't wait to book your holiday travel as those dates book far in advance. Call me to plan your next getaway!

Reynold's Plantation

The Ritz-Carlton Reynold's Plantation is 3 1/2 hours from Birmingham and one hour north of Atlanta. Located on Lake Oconee, the resort offers water sports, golf, spa, and has a great kids' program. The property is filled with hammocks for relaxing and you do not want to miss the nightly s'mores around the fire! And did I mention the amazing shrimp and grits at Georgia's Bistro?

Chattanooga

Around 2 hours from Birmingham or Atlanta, Chattanooga offers so much to explore. You can ride The Incline up Lookout Mountain, take an elevator deep into a cave to see underground Ruby Falls, or visit Rock City and see how many states you can see from one spot. You can tour Civil War battlegrounds and visit the amazing Tennessee Aquarium. Great fun for the whole family!

Old Edwards Inn

Highlands, NC is 4 1/2 hours from Birmingham, and 2 1/2 from Atlanta. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Old Edwards Inn and Spa is a great place to relax. Explore the mountains, shops and restaurants and don't miss their incredible spa. Perfect for a quiet weekend away as a couple but they also have kid friendly amenities and activities including a cool game room. The real star here though is the staff- they really are the nicest people!

New Orleans

Five hours from Birmingham is the" Big Easy". New Orleans is more than Bourbon street. It is a cultural hub with so much to see, do and taste. Audobon has a stellar aquarium and zoo with a new ropes obstacle course. You can tour the garden district, ride a trolley or horse-drawn carriage, stroll the waterfront, or visit Jackson Square. You can listen to jazz all night and eat po-boys all day. Truly a unique and charming town!

Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is family fun at it's best year round. You can get outdoors and hike or ride the alpine slide. You can visit attractions like Dollywood and Aquarium of the Smokies. You can stay at a hotel that has an indoor water park, or rent your own private cabin. You can shop outlet malls and in the winter you can ski and ice skate at Ober Gatlinburg. And don't forget breakfast at the Pancake Pantry!
