"Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring."

 Archbishop Desmond Tutu
This Month's Highlights

Bikes4Kids - HPD, Delray Beach Police Department, Richwagen’s Bike Shop, and Patrick Halliday of Delray Beach Bike Club are working with Toussaint L’Ouverture Principal Major Joseph Bernadel on a bike rebuild and distribution program that will recycle lost and abandoned bikes collected by the Delray Beach Police Department into valuable resources and innovative projects for students. The program will include a friendly “competition” to determine best matches between students and bikes. Interested students will assist with bike repairs, be trained in safety and traffic rules, and be provided with helmets and lights. Students who demonstrate natural ability and enthusiasm for bike repair and maintenance may be considered for employment at local bike shops.

Read the story and see the video on WPTV website: New Delray Beach partnership giving abandoned bikes a second life with students
