Supreme Court Decision and the Castro

We're still on hold waiting to learn when the Supreme Court will hand down their decision on same sex marriage. The court has indicated that the decision will be announced on either Thursday June 25, Friday June 26th or Monday June 29th. stay tuned. The evening of the announcement, Castro St. will be closed to, hopefully, celebrate. Gather at the rainbow crosswalks at Castro & 18th at 6 p.m.

Pink Party and Post Pink Party

As most of you know, Pink Saturday, the night before Pride evening celebration in the Castro, has been changed to Pink Party. Pink Party will be held from 3 - 8 p.m. and will feature performers, music, food trucks. This is an alcohol free event, and wear pink!

Post Pink Party- The event closes at 8 p.m. with the streets open, hopefully, by 10 p.m. if not earlier. SFPD will be in the neighborhood in full force until 2 or 3 a.m., the command center will be in the Jane Warner Plaza until 2 a.m.

There will be porta potties after the event ends. The Castro CBD, Castro Merchants and Castro/Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association, and lots of strategizing with Steve Porter from Harvey's, put together a plan to pay for porta potties in the footprint throughout the night. Thanks to great community collaboration!

The Apothecarium has donated $11,000 to Castro Cares AND their donations continue in the form of supplying us with care package items (socks, toiletries for men and women, and sustenance). Also a huge thank you to Emma, Evelyn and Iris for volunteering to package the care packages this month.
