RCR does not solicit donations door to door

Recently, someone claiming to be a Regina Cat Rescue volunteer was soliciting donations door to door throughout Regina over the weekend of June 20-21, 2015. Please be advised that Regina Cat Rescue DOES NOT solicit donations in this manner. Thanks to our vigilant supporters who reported this scammer to us. Read our blog for more information about what to do if you’re approached in this manner.

A feral cat safari!

We get a lot of questions about our feral cats and the feeding stations and shelters they call home. So when spring sprung, we decided to take our volunteer photographer out to capture some images of the feral cats in our care. We nicknamed the project our "feral cat safari" and set out to show a little of these animals in their natural habitat. Check out our safari gallery here!

Go Riders Go

The regular season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders is underway. Regina Cat Rescue needs volunteers to work the Western Pizza booth at Mosaic Stadium on game days throughout the Saskatchewan Roughriders season. Check out the Rider schedule for home games and email us to let us know which days interest you. The next home games are Sunday, July 5 and Friday July 17. RCR is also registered with the John Howard Society and you can work off eligible fines with us.

June's Metro Cat

Thank you to Metro Pet Market for helping Regina Cat Rescue by Spaying It Forward! This month, Metro paid for Evie's spay surgery as part of their on-going mission to foster responsible pet ownership.

Evie has now been adopted and is settling into her forever home. For more info about Metro Pet Market, please visit www.metropetmarket.ca.

Hot Weather Reminder

Summer has finally arrived in Regina! Sunny days and warm weather are great for humans -- but not so much for our little furry friends. Cats and dogs don’t tolerate heat any better than we do. Always make sure your pet has access to plenty of drinking water. And never leave your pet alone in a parked vehicle. You might think they enjoy car rides, but they'd much rather bond with you in the cool comfort of home. Heat exhaustion symptoms to watch for in cats and dogs include rapid pulse and breathing, bright red gums and tongue, lethargy, stumbling or weakness, drooling, hot paws and vomiting. If you suspect an animal's overheating inside a parked car, call 911 or the Regina Humane Society Protection Services at 306-777-7700.
