National Grid Funding Moves Montgomery County IDA's Marketing Program Forward
June 25, 2015

FONDA, N.Y. – The Montgomery County Industrial Development Agency (MCIDA) has been awarded a $20,000 grant from National Grid's Strategic Economic Development Outreach Program. The grant will help the MCIDA implement its 2015 Strategic Economic Development Marketing Program at a cost of $40,000.

A Strategic Branding Project study by North Star Destination Strategies recommended the development of the marketing program. The MCIDA partnered with National Grid to finance this initiative as well.

"We think this process will give Montgomery County and the surrounding area a competitive edge in the attraction of business and investment to the area. National Grid's matching grant programs make the investment feasible,” MCIDA Executive Director Ken Rose said.

The MCIDA is teaming up with ABC Creative Group to rebrand the region with the strategic marketing plan. ABC will take on a full redesign of the MCIDA website, including content development and video that will also be applied to other promotional materials. ABC will also assist with social media, public relations efforts and search engine optimization strategy.

“This grant will help us put our plans into action in better marketing our abundant and affordable resources to investors looking for an opportunity for growth,” Montgomery County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. “I am confident ABC Creative Group will set us apart and be a catalyst in attracting investment into the area. Special thanks to National Grid for their continued partnership with the county.”

“We’re happy to showcase everything Montgomery County offers to potential businesses,” ABC Owner/Creative Director Travis Bort said. “Our team is excited to take Montgomery County to the next level and show a new audience what makes it great for business.”

National Grid's Strategic Economic Development Outreach Program provides funding to leverage more and better macro-level business attraction research, marketing and sales efforts. The goal is to assist local and regional economic development organizations to increase their marketing and sales capacity and generate out-of-state prospects for direct investment in National Grid's upstate New York service territory.

“Economic growth does not happen without a strategic plan,” said National Grid Eastern New York Community Manager William Flaherty. “National Grid provides funding for projects like this that will help grow the economies and communities that we serve. This grant will help put Montgomery County on the radar of businesses and developers to increase growth in the region.”
