Paul Hamlyn Foundation New UK Grants Strategy

One of the UK’s largest independent grant-making foundations has launched its new strategic plan which will run from 2015 to 2021 and increased its funding by £5 million per year.

“We launched our current UK strategy in June 2015. It is built around six strategic priorities, where we want to see change over the coming years:
We want to support imaginative people to nurture exciting ideas
We want to widen access and participation in the arts
We want to improve people’s education and learning through the arts
We want to show that the arts make a difference to people’s lives
We want to support the development and growth of organisations investing in young people and positive change
We want to improve support for young people who migrate, and strengthen integration so that communities can live well together”

Paths For All - Health Walk Grants

Paths for All funds projects in order to improve Scotland's health through the delivery of local Community Health Walk and workplace walking projects.

We invest in community projects which build local capacity, delivering a volunteer led solution to improve physical activity levels.

There are two levels of grant are available:
    A Small Grant of up to £5,000.
    A Large Grant of up to £30,000*

Bringing older people and young people together whilst providing companionship and support

“We are particularly interested in how your proposed project will:
    broaden the appeal of Homeshare as an affordable solution to reducing isolation and loneliness for older people
   develop the Homeshare model support those most in need, for example, people with disabilities and carers
    identify and address barriers to accessing Homeshare schemes
    build relationships between organisations and/or sectors by working in partnership
    share learning about how to support the sustainability of the Homeshare schemes.”

Community Food and Health (Scotland) Launches Three Grant Schemes

- the capacity building fund, the one-year development fund and the new two-year development fund. 

Applications are invited from groups and organisations working with or within Scotland’s low-income communities to improve access to, and take-up of, a healthy, varied and balanced diet.

Google Impact Challenge 2015 Seeks Innovation Ideas to Help People with Disabilities

This year’s $20 million Google Impact Challenge is open to registered charities anywhere in the world that are using technology to improve the lives of those with physical disabilities.

Ideas will be reviewed on a rolling basis until 30 September 2015

Nuffield Foundation - Research and Innovation Grants

“The Nuffield Foundation is inviting applications through its Research and Innovation Grants programme. The Foundation supports charitable and non-profit organisations with creative ideas to identify change or interventions which will have a practical impact for researchers, policy makers, and practitioners. There are currently four grant programmes that support research and innovation for beneficial social change. These are Law in Social Society; Education; Children and Families; and Open Door which is for projects that advance social wellbeing, but lie outside the Foundation's main programme areas. Grants are for research projects; practical experimental; and development projects (often in voluntary sector organisations). Grants normally range between £10,000 and £250,000. The next deadline for submitting outline applications is the 2nd November 2015.”

Rosa: Funding to Tackle FGM

“Rosa, the UK Fund for Women and Girls has finalised its priorities for round 5 of its Genital Mutilation (FGM) Small Grants Programme. Funded by Comic Relief, Rosa will make 8 - 10 grants of between £500 and £5,000 to voluntary and Community groups to tackle Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK. In Round 5 Rosa will support applications from organisations that engage with and providing support to newly arrived communities; as well as previous recipients of Rosa's FGM Small Grants to continue their work beyond the life of the programme and to become sustainable. Grants can be used towards training, research, mentoring, networking, and the delivery of advice, awareness-raising, and support. Round 5 will open for applications on the 20th July 2015. The closing date for applications will be 5pm on the 14th September 2015.”

Cycling Scotland Community Development Grants

“Community groups in Scotland can apply for a Development Grant of up to £20,000 from Cycling Scotland to help them overcome barriers to cycling and work towards becoming a Cycle Friendly Community. The grants will also help the creation of a nationally recognised Cycle Friendly Community Award scheme following four pilot projects that were held in Kingussie, Neilston, The Black Isle and Falkirk. Funded projects must lead to more people cycling in communities across Scotland, helping deliver the Scottish Government's vision of 10% of all journeys being by bike by 2020. The deadline for applications is Friday 30th October but they are being assessed on a first come, first serve basis, until all available funding is allocated. So it is advisable to submit applications early.”

HRUK Healthy Heart Grants

Heart Research UK Healthy Heart Grants of up to £5,000 and up to £10,000 are available across the UK for new, original and innovative projects that actively promote Heart Health and help to prevent, or reduce, the risk of heart disease in specific groups or communities.

Applications for the autumn round can be submitted during July and August with a closing date of 31 August.

The Polden-Puckham Charitable Foundation (PPCF) is a grant giving trust with Quaker family roots in the United Kingdom.  We aim to contribute to the development of a just society based on a commitment to nonviolence and environmental sustainability.  In order to do this, in the limited areas described below we support projects that seek to influence values and attitudes, promote equity and social justice, and develop radical alternatives to current economic and social structures.

Volant Charitable Trust: Funding to Alleviate Effects of Poverty on Women & Children

“Registered charities whose purpose is to alleviate poverty and social deprivation with particular emphasis on children and women's issues have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Volant Charitable Trust. The next application deadline is the 8th January 2016. The Trust which was set up by the author J K Rowling also supports research into the causes, treatment and possible cures of Multiple Sclerosis. However this funding stream is currently fully committed and is currently not considering further applications for funding in this area. For projects based in Scotland only, with funding requests of up to and including £10,000 per annum, applications are dealt with by Foundation Scotland”
