Where else can you talk to the president of a general ministry, interact with a global missionary and have a meal with a fellow Disciple who now lives six states away - all in one place in five days? The General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Columbus, Ohio, from July 18-22 encourages just such encounters. From the general ministry booths in the exhibit hall to the business reports to the special meal events, the General Assembly is one way to get a big picture of the Disciples. The learning communities offer yet another way to meet Disciples with similar interests and share your enthusiasm and knowledge. Troy Tatum and Robin Blakemore will both travel to Columbus to represent First Christian Church in business and worship at General Assembly.  Jan Watts will preach and lead worship on Sunday, July 19.

Young at Heart is a group of older adults who enjoy getting together for fellowship and experience. This group often explores fun and interesting sites in and around Birmingham and beyond. We are looking at a calendar for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 and we’d love to have your ideas. Please join us for a time of planning Wednesday, July 29 at 10:00 am.

We are privileged to have the Dudley family on July 19th.  This special father/daughter duo have not shared their talent with our congregation before and I am looking forward to hearing them. The last Sunday of the month we will be graced by the music of George and Judy Dudley. So, as you can see, we are going to have a special month of music in July.

Summer Program

We have one more week that your child(ren) can join us for a fun-filled experience at our summer fun camp.  The age range are for children 12 months through 2nd grade. Our program runs 9:30 AM to 1 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

If you think you may miss church services this summer due to travel or other commitments, consider setting up an automatic giving schedule. Your consistent support is vital to our church, especially during summer months. To set up a recurring contribution:

3. Click on the Create Profile button, then
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to create an online profile and to schedule your recurring contributions.
