Team REDS/Watt-Ahh Boat Takes Checkered Flag
(Sarasota, FL.) – Sarasota powerboat team, REDS/Watt-Ahh Offshore Racing, won first place in the Pro-Am 1 Class on Sunday, July 5, 2015 against other boats, including their tough competitor, Black Pearl. CBS Sports Network will be airing the program on the races this year: Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. ET and encore at 11 p.m.
“The winning Team, Throttles Ed Tamberino and Driver Nate Hunt, worked well together on cutting the corners close to swing around our 36’ Spectre Cat and then hammer down to thrill the fans watching on Lido Beach” said Co-owner and CEO of AquaNew (Watt-Ahh® bottled water), Rob Gourley. “Our home town (Sarasota-Bradenton) has the best racing fans. The fans have supported the legacy of this festival to help children in need for over 30 years."
For the festival itself, this was a transition year with a new race organizer: Offshore Powerboats Grand Prix (OPGP). Gourley said, "There was an overall cooperative and inclusive spirit, with improved safety precautions for both the public and the racers, and the purses were generous to support the teams to keep racing."
