The 78th Oregon Legislative Session has now come to a close and thanks to your vocal and valiant efforts in March, we were able to successfully and soundly defeat Senate Bill 442, stopping it before it even came to a vote. Those efforts went a long way to show our legislative leaders, and all of Oregon, that Oregonians value medical freedom as a non-negotiable, fundamental right.
However, with the passage of Oregon Senate Bill 895 just days ago, and Senate Bill 277 passing in California, we know the fight to protect medical freedom, right to privacy, and personal decision making regarding medical procedures for our families, is far from over.
Oregonians for Medical Freedom wants to lead the charge to prevent further legislation like this from happening in Oregon—but we need your help.
As a member of our coalition, you have already made a huge impact by defeating SB 442. Now, we need your help to fight this in the future by building a strong financial base so we can spread our message, do necessary research and outreach surrounding our issues, work with legislators during the interim to protect our rights, and yes…even begin some projects in preparation for the next election cycle.
One way to help us with this mission is through a small financial contribution to our political action committee. Your contribution of $25, $50, or $100 can make a difference to our coalition as we fight to protect our rights to medical freedom and informed consent—and because of the Oregon Political Tax Credit, it doesn’t have to cost you anything!
If you file an Oregon tax return, you may be eligible for the Oregon Political Tax Credit which allows you to make a contribution of up to $100 (married filing jointly, $50 individual filers) to committees like ours and receive every dollar of it back when you file your income tax return next year.
Through our tax system, the state of Oregon gives each tax-paying Oregonian a $50 gift. But you can’t keep it—you either pay it back in state taxes, or donate it to a qualified political action committee like Oregonians for Medical Freedom in order to take advantage of this tax credit.
