Tomei AV Consulting
July 2015 newsletter

The annual InfoComm Show has come and gone, and I survived the Orlando heat and humidity.  It was an action packed week of classes, meetings, show floor, dinners and events.  I saw many of you at the show, and met many new people.  Even though they set an attendance record of over 39,000 people, I'm always amazed at how many industry friends I run into at the Show.  I wrote up a quick recap of what caught my eye.

Publications
Trade publication articles I wrote or contributed to, and Tomei AV Consulting mentions over the past month:

Campus Technology
"How to Create an AV Standards Document"

I wrote an article for Campus Technology magazine in June that describes the importance of higher ed AV support departments taking the time to write a document defining all of their AV design and technical standards.  Taking the time to assemble such a document now will save you countless hours and headaches later, when you're in the middle of the busy season for AV installations on campus.
Middle Atlantic
"A Room With a View:  What Factors Weight Most Heavily In the Choice Between Displays vs. Projectors?"

Leading up to InfoComm 2015, I contributed to this article written by Middle Atlantic, which discusses the projector vs. flat panel debate in classrooms.  Full disclosure:  I wasn't paid by Middle Atlantic for this work, and I have no affiliation with Middle Atlantic.  I just like talking about classroom AV technology.
Podcast
Unfortunately, I don't have a podcast link for you this month.  We recorded an episode of the AV Nation EdTech podcast from the InfoComm Show floor, but it turns out the recorded audio was corrupted and unusable.  We'll be recording an episode in the next couple of weeks, and I'm sure we'll talk all about our InfoComm Show experiences.  In the meantime, you can listen to all the old podcast episodes on the new and improved AV Nation website.
InfoComm 2015 recap
InfoComm 2015 has come and gone, so I figured I would write up a quick recap of some items that made my "oh, that's cool" list as I wandered the aisles of the show floor.  I'm in agreement with most people that the show was really worthwhile to attend, but there just wasn't anything groundbreaking that blew me away.  There were still plenty of cool items, though.  You can find my Show recap on my blog, and I promise it's brief, since we've all read way too many InfoComm recap articles!
