Summer Series 2015 continues Saturday, July 18, with a free movie at the Mission.
Bring the whole family out to Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park on Saturday, July 18, to view "Soul Surfer" under the stars. 

This inspirational, surfing-themed, family-friendly flick will be shown for free on the lawn at the Mission as part of the 2015 Summer Series. The gate opens at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at dusk.

Castro Stewardship Dinner success.  
Thanks to everyone who was able to join us for the Second Annual Castro Stewardship Dinner, held June 28 at the Castro Adobe. 

Our generous guests experienced the recently restored Potter-Church Garden, enjoyed dinner by Ballesteros Catering and heard from several gifted speakers, including Fred Keeley and Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks Executive Director Bonny Hawley. See photos from the event on Facebook.

Catch a free campfire concert at New Brighton State Beach! 
The Campfire Center at New Brighton State Beach is a rockin' place every Saturday night this summer. The park's free Summer Concert Series features a different performer each weekend. Shows in July are 7:30-8:30 p.m.; August shows are 7-8 p.m.

Upcoming performances include: 
  • July 18: Indonesian Gamelan Music with Martin Randall
  • July 25: Simmons Family Band (bluegrass)
  • Aug. 1: Hula Halau O Mahina Kai (Polynesian dance group)
Admission to the concerts is free; parking is $10 and supports the park. Find additional concerts and other great park events on our website.

Experience 'Tales of Big Basin,' a weekend of storytelling in the park.
Big Basin Redwoods State Park will host "Tales of the Basin: A Weekend of Storytelling," July 24-25, with events spotlighting storytellers, park history and the tradition of spinning a yarn beside the evening fire. There also will be special children's performances and South Bay Storytellers will provide the Saturday night campfire program.

Some of the weekend events include Big Basin "Nature Tails" at 4:30 p.m. and Storytellers' Showcase Campfire at 7 p.m., both on Saturday, July 25. Get details on our calendar.

The 3rd Annual Mole & Mariachi Festival will be Saturday, Sept. 19. 
The Festival is a benefit in support of the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park. Your support will help fund educational programs, visitor services, capital improvements and increased public operating hours. Please join us as a sponsor, competitor, vendor or visitor!
