Sentinel Literary Quarterly Competitions News
The Sentinel Literary Quarterly Poetry Competition (August 2015) will start accepting entries on the 11th of July 2015 and will close on the 31st of August. This competition will be judged by All the Invisible author Mandy Pannett. We shall also be adjusting the prize money to make it better.
First Prize will remain at £200.00
Second Prize will go up from £75.00 to £100.00
Third Prize remains unchanged at £50.00
3 x Highly Commended prizes remain unchanged at £20.00 each
and the 3 Commended poems will receive £10.00 each
That is a total of £440.00 in prizes. This is with effect from the August 2015 competition and celebrates the continued success of our poetry competition every quarter.
The short story competitions have not fared as well, unfortunately, and through some quarters, the prizes for short stories have been paid for by the poetry competitions or funds from other areas of the movement. It has been a difficult decision, but for now, the Sentinel Literary Quarterly Short Story Competitions have been suspended, not cancelled. We have to re-imagine the way we position the short story competitions in future, if at all, to ensure that they do not negatively impact financially on what we do, and that the level of participation is high enough to make the contests fierce enough, and the prizes worthy. When and if we decide to reinstate the quarterly short story competitions, we will let everyone know.
