A Fun and fruitful effort to send off the 2015 season in style

The energy in Grady Stadium seemed different from the rest of the home games this season. Although we narrowly missed a playoff bid for the South region, our fan’s stayed loyal and energetic and came out to support their hometown favorites. As a result, the cheers echoed loudly out over the Atlanta skyline one last time in the Hustle’s inaugural season. Regardless of it being our last game, there was just a different feeling to it than the rest of our home games. The camaraderie gained throughout this first season, developed game-by-game, practice-by-practice and even sprint-by-sprint, was demonstrated in full force. Positive emotions ran high and this team showed the Atlanta ultimate community one last time how teamwork and dedication could pay dividends, even at a season’s end.

The game started strong, with our offense using the laid back scene to remain as consistent as ever, punishing their marks with effortless break-side throws and working the deep game to who other then Matt Smith (7G). The game was closest going into halftime at 12-9. Our handler game was simply dominant, with Dylan Tunnell, Ben Breault, and Matt Knowles. all notching 4 or more assists, and Steven Hicks and Michael Spear. each throw 3 of their own. Layouts abounded, with Devin Cox leading our defensive efforts with 4 huge (literally) D’s.

Coming out of half, the success only continued, as we outscored the NightWatch 9-2 and never took our foot off of the gas pedal. The fourth quarter remained as fun-oriented and effortless as ever,
 

There is no better way to send off out last home game than with a 10 point win, finishing our inaugural American Ultimate Disc League season with 10 wins as well. While it would be easy to stay bitter about not clinching our playoff spot, we are choosing a different feeling: hunger. We are hungry for next year, we are hungry for another season, and most importantly, we are hungry to bring an American Ultimate Disc League championship to the city of Atlanta that was so supportive of us this entire year!
