Chris Hockman
"The Climate Crisis: Who has the most to lose?"

Even after recognizing the realities of climate change, it is still difficult to fathom all of its implications. How can we use our theology to understand the impact on our most vulnerable and to respond effectively?

Chris Hockman will begin her final year of seminary at Meadville Lombard Theological School this fall. She lives in Richmond, Virginia and is currently serving as Intern Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Peninsula in Newport News.

Rev. Charles Swadley
"Just When I Thought I Had All the Answers, Somebody Changed the Questions."

The Rev. Charles Swadley believes that changing times demand new questions to find better answers to challenging life and institutional matters.  For Rev. Swadley, this entails revisiting old stories and seeing new visions of meaning and application.

Share the Plate for July 12
The Share the Plate collection for Sunday, July 12, will be donated to the Williamsburg and Newport News Brain Injury Survivors Support Groups.

These non-profit groups offer discussions, socialization, support, information, friendship and encouragement to people who have sustained brain injuries from trauma, stroke, aneurysm, tumor or other neurological event.  One group meeting is held monthly in each city. Family, friends and other concerned people in the lives of those living with a brain injury are welcome to attend.  WUU member Sara Lewis is the groups founder and is herself a survivor.   (https://www.facebook.com/williamsburgandnewportnewsbraininjurysupport group)   We welcome this agency to our Share the Plate outreach program. Thank you for your continuing generous contributions!

For more information about our Share the Plate program or to nominate a recipient agency, email stp@wuu.org.

Building Our Future 2016

The 95% File is Ready!
Last week, the Guernsey Tingle team provided the almost-complete set of building plans. The project design is 95% completed and the final checking process is underway. By the end of July, after bids are received by E.T. Gresham Company (General Contractors), the detailed project costs will be known.

In the above photo, Les and Roger look over the 65 pages of working drawings for the new addition to WUU.  Watch for the BOF Newsletter for additional info on how you can look over these drawings.
