…We’re staying on at the Said Business School for our first international summit
Key alumni of universities in the Oxford AHSN region now working abroad are returning to attend the first Oxford AHSN Alumni Summit on Thursday and Friday (9/10 July). They will join UK leaders in life sciences drawn from industry, academia and government to create new opportunities for collaboration and progress in tackling 21st century healthcare challenges. The Minister for Life Sciences, George Freeman, will be a special guest at the conference.
Prof Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford,
said: “Interactions between the academic and healthcare communities here are really powerful. We have the capability to really make progress in precision medicine. We are hoping to bring our alumni back to create opportunities for collaboration and interactions and demonstrate the progress we have made." |
On 9 June Professor Sir John Bell visited Oxford Brookes to provide the Annual Research Lecture for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. As Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University and Chair of the Oxford Academic Health Science Centre, Sir John was invited to Brookes to discuss the future of medicine and the role of the AHSC. In a public talk titled 'Creating a new taxonomy of disease' Sir John covered a range of topics, from his own research interests in autoimmune disease and immunology, to the broader perspective of diagnosis, treatment and future goals.
